The Lily

This exceptional set of four modernist solid brass candlesticks features the celebrated 'Liljan' (The Lily) model, a masterpiece of Scandinavian modern design created by Swedish sculptor Ivar Ålenius Björk. Originally designed for the Swedish pavilion at the 1939 New York World's Fair, it was historically produced by Ystad-Metall and later reintroduced by Skultuna. Each piece features clean, fluid lines that elegantly mimic the organic form of arched lily petals. Highly versatile, the central socket accommodates standard taper candles or can hold a glass tube insert to double beautifully as a refined bud vase. Each piece features standard dimensions of 12 cm in height and 22 cm in width. The set is in excellent vintage condition, beautifully preserving its rich original patina and historical charm.
