Candlestick

This pair of solid brass candlesticks is a quintessential example of Mid-Century Modern Scandinavian design, created by the renowned Danish designer Jens Harald Quistgaard in 1956 for Dansk Designs. Part of the celebrated Model 853, they feature a sleek, slender silhouette that elegantly flares outward toward the bottom, resembling an upturned trumpet. The clean, rigorous profile stretches upward to a distinctive flat, satellite-like circular collar that acts as a wax catcher before forming the candle socket. Beyond its primary purpose, this piece boasts a clever, versatile design: its sculptural silhouette and flared form allow it to be utilized or inverted to double elegantly as a minimalist bud vase for a single flower. This minimalist aesthetic is balanced by the warmth of the brass, preserving a beautiful and authentic original patina enriched with natural signs of age. Each piece features the following dimensions: 23.5 cm in height and a maximum base diameter of 6,5 cm. The set is in excellent vintage condition, showcasing a masterclass in geometric purity and modernist multi-purpose utility.
