This pair of "Diabolo" pendant lamps, produced by the historic Danish manufacturer Lyfa in the 1960s, perfectly embodies the essence of mid-century Scandinavian design through simple, symmetrical, and elegant lines, measuring 24 cm in height and 33 cm in diameter. The bell-shaped shade flares gently outwards and closes at the top with a distinctive reverse funnel element that conceals the wiring. The true signature detail of the piece is the radially arranged fine slot perforation on the upper section: a refined engineering solution designed to dissipate bulb heat while simultaneously creating a striking atmospheric glow by projecting indirect light upwards. Although the design is sometimes attributed to the company's famous Design Director, Jo Hammerborg, there is no documentary evidence to support this claim, leaving the charm and mystery of this vintage lighting classic completely intact.
