Gunnar Nylund
Ash Bowl
This set of two modernist stoneware bowls features the iconic 'ASH' model, a biomorphic masterpiece designed by the celebrated ceramicist Gunnar Nylund in the 1950s for Rörstrand. The lot includes two different dimensional scales of the same design, noted for its asymmetrical sculptural profile with sinuous edges that elegantly sweep upward into three distinct peaks (3-wave design). Both pieces feature a sophisticated satin-finished dual-tone glaze in shades of teal and cerulean blue, enriched with a fine vertical matrix texture. Deep dark brown and black pooling wraps around the bases and crisply frames the top rims. The set comprises the medium size (length 14 cm, height 9 cm) and the rare miniature version (length 8 cm, height 5 cm). Both items remain in excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks, fully preserving the incised Rörstrand logo and GN signature underneath.
